The e-commerce retailer is helping people buy in bulk with ease by introducing a chatbot, an AR feature and group ordering

Boxed is all about getting people to buy bulk items online and having them shipped straight to their homes. To make it easier for consumers, the retailer announced that it is unveiling a new set of features to make online shopping even better using chatbots, AR and group ordering.

The chatbot, named Bulky, will be available via Facebook Messenger. The bot is able to suggest when it may be time to reorder items and recommend new items based on a consumer's purchases. It is also able to handle basic customer service questions, including tracking an order. It will even integrate with Slack, the popular work communication platform.

The augmented reality feature is targeted at families living in urban areas where there is less space. The AR option is available on Boxed's iOS app and it will let customers see exactly how big these bulk items are and if they can fit them into their homes.

Last but not least, group ordering is a function that allows multiple people to order bulk items as a collaborative effort. It even has a Venmo feature that makes it easy to split costs if necessary.
