The quirky illustrated coins depict regions and symbols of France

Renowned fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier has been commissioned to design a limited edition set of Euro coins for France. Presented by Monnaie de Paris, the series of face value coins depict France as seen by Gaultier, and with their quirky style, they are instantly recognizable as his work.

The 10€ silver coins feature cities, provinces or regions of France, while the 50€ silver coins and 200€ gold coins are adorned with a selection of French symbols. Some of the humorous images on the coins include a corset-wrapped Eiffel Tower, a model dressed like Napoleon and a rooster wearing a striped Breton shirt.
