Target Introduces Mobile Wallet To Speed Up Checkout Time

Target updated its mobile app to include a Wallet for customers to find discounts and make purchases

On Monday, Target added a new mobile Wallet feature to its app. When a Target customer wants to use their Wallet at the store, they scan the barcodes of all the items they plan to purchase. These items are added to a digital cart and when the customer finishes scanning them a new barcode pops up on their phone. This goes to the cashier who scans it at the checkout.

All of the items they want to purchase go through the app, which attempts to locate savings, such as offers from Cartwheel and Weekly Ad coupons, as well as the 5% discount all Target REDcard members get. Target says the Wallet feature will help customers get better access to discounts and spend less time at checkout.

Target also announced that gift cards will be added to the Wallet feature in the future.
