Volvo Now Lets Customers Access Cars With A Subscription
For $600 per month plus local taxes, subscribers can access the automaker's cars and premium services
There are subscription boxes that offer new and exciting products for every market, but would you sign up to switch out your car every two years? Volvo is counting on it, having joined the subscription service bandwagon in offering Care by Volvo. For $600 per month plus local taxes, subscribers can try out the XC40 with the T5 engine, or for $100 more, they can take out the XC40 T5 R-Design, which comes with an additional Harman Kardon sound system.
Care by Volvo has no down payments or one-time enrollment fees, which may make it increasingly attractive to first-time car subscribers. The fee also covers 24/7 customer care and concierge services (including roadside assistance), an annual 15,000-mile allowance that covers tire and wheel damage protection, and wear-and-tear replacements, even for the windshield wipers and brakes.
Subscribers will not have to worry about insurance, as Volvo will take care of it as part of the subscription price. According to the website, Care by Volvo customers will be covered by a Liberty Mutual Insurance premium personal insurance policy.
The subscription term is for 24 months, at which time the subscriber can choose to switch for a different model. They can even make the switch halfway in if they agree to sign up for another 24-month term. The service will be run through regional dealerships, and once the term is done, subscribers must return the car to said dealership. Still, Care by Volvo is much cheaper than Cadillac’s subscription service, one of the few brands offering a similar plan.
