Equinox Made A Luxury Collection From Newspaper Pages And Athlete’s DNA

The fitness chain created a series of products inspired by individuals and organizations who have remained committed to their goals

Fitness chain Equinox worked with agency Wieden+Kennedy New York for a collection of luxury items titled Commitment. The seven products were inspired by individuals and groups who stood for their beliefs and saw through their goals, despite the challenges in front of them.

All of the items in the collection feature a unique material not normally used in products. Eau de Blood, Sweat & Tears includes the DNA of Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon (once an all-male race). The Truth Lipstick is made from iron oxides, ricinus communis oil, beeswax and pages from The Washington Post to celebrate the paper’s journalistic integrity and commitment to a free press.

These products are not for sale, but several of the pages on Equinox’s website suggest donating to the causes that inspired them. A few items will be auctioned off at an event in February with proceeds going to nonprofit organizations.
