Keeps, the newest men’s grooming startup, is joining the growing ranks of personalized digital shopping experiences. This week it launched its platform for men to get individualized treatment plans to prevent hair loss. Founded by two ex-Google employees, Steven Gutentag and Demetri Karagas, the company employs teledoctors in 30 states, and works with a mail order pharmacy called Eagle Pharmacy.

Keeps sells two FDA-approved products—Finasteride, a prescription pill, and topical treatment Minoxidil—through Eagle Pharmacy, which are delivered to its clients’ doors. First users get a free virtual consult with one of the doctors, who can then prescribe the treatment they need. Some will get both products, while others only need one of the options the company provides.

The first doctor consultation is free, and every one after costs $30. The doctor will get in touch to check up on results after the first four to six weeks. Finasteride is priced at $25 per month, while Minoxidil is $10 per month. Keeps says that by creating its own supply chain and selling directly to users, it was able to bring costs down and offer these medications for half of what they go for at pharmacies. The company will even sell the drugs to customers who already take them, with an appropriate prescription, allowing them to save on the cost of a Keeps consultation.

To get started, men have to fill out a questionnaire and send a few photos of themselves, after which a doctor in their state will contact them. Should a customer be in one of the 20 states without a Keeps teledoctor, a doctor from another state will recommend a treatment plan, which he can then ask his regular physician to prescribe.

“Keeps is designed for guys like Steve and Demetri—guys who want to stop hair loss and then get back to their lives,” reads the site. “That’s why they created the first simple, modern solution focused on making it easier and more affordable for men to take action and keep their hair. No jargon. No hoops to jump through. No skeevy before and after shots.”
