The ticket selling service is using augmented reality to help attendees get a grasp on the city and stadium before going to the game

Tens of thousands of fans will flock to Minneapolis next month to watch this year's Super Bowl at the U.S. Bank Stadium, but many of them will be in an unfamiliar city and location for the first time, potentially creating headaches when it comes to finding their way around. To help alleviate this stress, ticket provider StubHub is launching a new feature for its iOS app that uses augmented reality to help fans get familiar with the stadium before they even step foot inside of it.

By clicking the immersive view prompt on the landing page for Super Bowl ticket buyers within the app, users will be shown a 3D model of the U.S. Bank Stadium and the surrounding area, including a map of where their seats are located, as well as other important amenities including parking, transit lines and entrance gates. The app also provides information on attractions surrounding the stadium, including pre-game parties in the nearby downtown area of Minneapolis, which is especially useful for those who will be traveling to the city for the first time.

“When it comes to our users, we’re passionate about providing solutions in ticket buying and selling that offer a clear value. As the first ticketing player to implement this technology, we hope to further enhance the purchasing experience ahead of the biggest day in football,” said Matt Swann, CTO of StubHub in a press release.
