Tesla's road map tool, which helps electric car owners plan trips based on the locations of charging stations, was made available online

Tesla has made it easier for electric car owners to map out long trips by releasing an online tool that helps drivers plan their route based on the location of charging stations.

The tool makes planning a trip extremely straightforward. The car owner inputs the model they drive, their starting point and their destination. The tool takes all of this information and presents a path with small icons showing the location of the charging stations. The tool also displays the best locations for the owner to stop to charge their vehicle and how long these stops should last.

Originally this tool was only available for Tesla drivers, as it was programmed into the vehicle's dashboard, but it has now been released online for anyone to view at their leisure. The map works throughout the United States, western Europe, and parts of Canada and China.
