Visitors to MVRDV's Milestone building will be able to scan elements of the architecture to learn about the city's history

Design firm MVRDV recently revealed its plan to create a building called the Milestone. It is intended to be one of the most innovative buildings ever built, with its goal to celebrate the German city of Esslingen’s past and future. The building will be made up of glass blocks that reflect the city and the landscape around it. The blocks will also be designed to have a 3D look, with a walkway open to the public. Going up to 40 meters, visitors will be able to see the scenic surroundings.

The most fascinating part of this building is the QR codes that will be integrated as part of the architecture. Visitors, and even pedestrians just passing by, can scan these codes with their phone to learn more about Esslingen’s history and people. Basically, it serves as a high-tech museum or library. The glass blocks have solar cells that can generate electricity. The design firm also promises that the structure will be a beautiful presence at night.
