Have you ever lamented the limited functionality of your hair dryer—whether it heats up the bathroom to the likes of a sweat lodge or leaves your tresses damp even after what feels like ages? A high-end, professional-grade blow dryer from Hai Beauty Concepts wants to end drying difficulties by providing users with the ultimate in customizable temperature and wind-speed settings.

Doing away with the typical restrictive high/low speed and hot/cool settings, the Stylset dryer features two sleek dials, one for heat and one for wind, that allow users to incrementally select their exact combination to best suit their styling, hair texture or environmental needs. According to Fast Company, the motivation to create a dryer that gives people full control came from industry-wide demands for customizable options. Derek Russo, HAI’s product development and operations manager, explains, “We saw that there is this massive resurgence of customizable control for other tools like hair irons and curling irons, but for hair dryers, that just was nonexistent. By giving the customer full control, they’re able to explore their hairstyles in a more comprehensive way.”

The settings don’t stop with temp and speed. The Stylset also relies on use of negative ions and far-infrared rays to eliminate static and increase shine, implementing tourmaline and ionic technologies to promote manageable hair. Additionally, the dryer has a UV-light option that helps reduce drying time and promotes hair health by conditioning the scalp and sealing the hair’s cuticle. The sweetest feature, however, might just be that this dryer can actually provide you with a fragrant drying experience, blasting your bathroom with a jasmine-scented emission if you so desire.

Russo claims that the hair-styling industry is lagging behind when it comes to product innovation, a gap that his company is hoping to fill with its Stylset model. “This product really is the Swiss army knife of dryers,” he said. The model retails for $139.99 on HAI’s site.
