How Wellness Brands Are Harnessing The Power Of Scent

Wellness and scent are especially well-suited for one another, which is why brands are creating scent-centric products that promote healthy living

Aromatherapy has a long history of implementation in the pursuit of health and wellness. Today, companies are taking advantage of the influence and benefits of scent to design products intended to enhance people’s quality of life. Here’s how two brands are creating products that incorporate scent to meet the needs of wellness-focused consumers and alleviate concerns over disruptive environments:

Bescent
French company Bescent developed a high-tech diffuser alarm clock for kids. Called Oria, the device uses smells instead of sounds to wake you up and comes with capsules that can produce different scents based on your preferences. Scent options include awakening to the smell of coffee, a hot croissant or even refreshing mint. By tapping into the power of pleasant scents, Oria is able to wake people up in a good mood rather than by using disruptive sounds, aiming to improve sleep quality by encouraging a qualitative and restorative sleep.

AireSpa
AireSpa is an air enhancement system designed to allow a hotel guest to control the in-room environment through a touchscreen remote control that sits on the nightstand. The system comprises a three-stage HEPA air purifier, sanitized mist producing humidifier, four nature-inspired scented aromatherapies and 16 soundscapes that aid in better sleep and relaxation. AireSpa is a product designed specifically to optimize the hospitality experience for health and wellness-conscious guests by quickly removing smoke, food and bio odors from a guest’s room and reducing the amount of time a room needs to be taken out of service.

The realm of wellness is just one area where brands are creatively implementing the power of scent in their products and services. For more information on this trend around sensory immersion, see PSFK’s report Introducing Scents Into The Brick-And-Mortar Experience.
