The Truck Surf Hotel gives travelers the opportunity to explore uncrowded surf spots, natural parks and mountains, as well as immerse themselves in different cultures

More innovation is on the way in the hospitality department with a new hotel truck that travels around the best surf spots in Portugal and Morocco. The Truck Surf Hotel is a converted Mercedes Actros with a hydraulic system that allows its walls to expand and transform into a double decker “hotel on wheels.”

The truck has five rooms, four of which are doubles and one single, as well as a terrace with bean bags, and a fully equipped shared bathroom. Prices depend on the type of room and voyage (Surf Guiding, Surf Experience, Adventure and Taylor Made, which lets guests design their own trip), but range from around $700 to $900 per week per person. Guests don't actually travel inside the hotel, since it only has five seats; instead, they go on a Mini Bus to the next parking location. Meals can be ordered from TSH's local cooks, but can also be prepared in the hotel kitchen by the guests themselves if they wish.

The hotel owners, Daniela Careiro and Eduardo Ribeiro, recommend guests stay at least one week to fully enjoy whatever experience they choose. After years traveling around Europe and Africa in a camper van, they want to share with others the mobile travel experience.

Group deals are available, but traveling alone is also encouraged. The concept of this moving hotel is to create a place for people to discover and connect as they partake in epic adventures, allowing travelers more authority and greater freedom while they journey and offering them an alternative to more traditional accommodation types.
