Joining the personalization trend, the famous whisky retailer is now letting customers digitally discover their own taste, design a custom bottle, and order online

The Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker recently launched the new Johnnie Walker My Edition. This latest innovation by the brand’s owner, Diageo Futures, allows the customers to create a personalized bottle of whisky that matches their individual flavor palate.

Customers can go online to Johnnie Walker My Edition and answer several questions to learn which six flavors, ranging anywhere from Rich & Complex to Vibrant & Spicy, are best for them. “Based on the answers given, Johnnie Walker My Edition uses machine learning and proprietary algorithms to match the taste profile to one of a range of six new and exclusive Johnnie Walker blends,” Head of Diageo Futures, David Gates said on The Drinks Business. “It allows people to explore flavor in a fresh and engaging way not offered elsewhere.”

From there, a personalized bottle will be chosen and engraved to the customer’s preference before being packaged and sent out for delivery. Not only does this new experience allow customers to find a bottle specific to their tastes, but it also provides a new way for people to interact with the Johnnie Walker whisky brand, using technology and personalization to more closely engage consumers.
