Summersalt, a D2C swimwear brand, took 1.5 million measurements from 10,000 women to create its eco-friendly collection

Summersalt, a D2C swimwear brand, wants to change the whole swimsuit experience for women, from the nerve-wracking, exposed and overly sexualized to confident, sexy and empowering. The brand is made by women for women and was started by Lori Coulter, along with co-founder Reshma Chattaram Chamberlin last year. Its rapid growth and success proves that the concept of a comfortable and accessible bathing suit is addressing a pressing need for women.

The swimwear is designed for every body type, a fact the company backed up by taking 1.5 million measurements from 10,000 women to create their looks and filling its website with women of different body types sporting each style.

At $95 per suit, it’s more affordable than the usual designer wear, a price Summersalt achieves by selling straight to consumers. All of its lines, including the new ‘Power Suits,’ are made from eco-friendly materials, an increasing trend in fashion as consumers grow interested in shopping ethically. The company at large strives to be green, with suits made from recycled textiles, reusable bags and print materials on 100% recycled paper.
