Destination United virtually transports soccer fans in India to England's Manchester United stadium, offering them exclusive behind-the-scenes content using immersive technology

The ride-sharing company Uber has partnered with Manchester United F.C., England’s professional English football club, to create a 360-video experience called Destination United. The two companies are using this technology to help teleport fans from all over the globe to the stadium in England, letting them virtually meet the team.

The Manchester United F.C. website describes the experience, stating, “Thanks to the latest technology, an immersive, group-360 experience pod has been created which will encapsulate the essence of the Theatre of Dreams, transporting the visitors through a unique fan journey into the atmosphere and history of Old Trafford.”

The 5-D voyage digitally takes fans right to the Old Trafford stadium in Greater Manchester, getting a chance to see the team’s players, including Wes Brown, and experience recreations of the players’ tunnel, changing rooms and the stadium’s own museum.

Uber chooses which dedicated fans get the chance to try out Destination United. The first was Pratham Prabhu from India, a long-time Manchester United enthusiast who has never been to the stadium. Overall, the offer serves to highlight Uber's sponsorship deal as Official Ride Partner of Manchester United, while serving as experiential marketing for the two brands.
