The global charity is using cryptocurrency to make donating to causes as simple as opening a browser

UNICEF Australia developed a way to raise money for its charitable causes by tapping into people's computer processors. The Hope Page raises funds through cryptocurrency mining. With the JavaScript miner Coinhive, Hope Page uses between 20 to 80% of the computer’s processor to solve cryptocurrency algorithms. UNICEF has released a statement assuring users that mining cryptocurrency is completely safe for the computer. The statement went on to explain that the longer a user stays on the page, the more processing power—and by extension, cryptocurrency—they donate.

The cryptocurrency is converted into funds that provide supplies such as water, food and medication to children and mothers in developing nations. This program has a lot of promise for crypto-mining and what it can still be utilized for—including an easy way to get potential donors engaged.
