First Aperture, a DJ created by the Getty Images database, released a new single along with a groundbreaking music video complied completely of Getty’s media. Along with the database’s stock images being the sole source material for the single, “Take Control,” and the merchandise line for the album, the audio mixed to create the video was also sourced from the Getty’s content.

The ability to design a full-length video is a testament to the scope and potential use of the database. First Aperture’s creation is opening the art world up to a new kind of borrowed-form media, encouraging everyday users to create their own content without necessarily needing musical skills. The depth of the database makes it an all-but-untouched resource that could be utilized for anything from advertising to education, and serves to inspire creators with the possibility of producing original content using stock media.
