With the ability to embed tags into raw materials (not just on packaging), everyone along the supply chain can expect greater peace of mind

Applied DNA Sciences is pairing with Videojet Technologies to create molecular SigNature tags that will ensure consumers are getting what is being advertised. Applied DNA Sciences VP Janice Meraglia explained: “molecular tags can be embedded into raw materials or applied to the surface of almost any object. Each custom molecular tag is formulated specifically to adhere tenaciously and is optimized to support multiple authentications throughout the supply chain.”

SigNature tags are printed in molecular ink and follow three elements to ensure authenticity: tag, test and track. Printers are programmed only to accept a specific tagged cartridge. This system allows for products that have been marked to be traced as they go through the supply chain. With SigNature, consumers are sure that the products that claim to be “made in the USA” are in fact made stateside, or that something deemed “extra virgin olive oil” does not include a substitute. This molecular tagging system will hold distributors more accountable and give conscious consumers greater peace of mind.
