An immersive mobile game based on the new Jurassic World movie gives users points for visiting certain businesses, using Google Maps' latest interface to let players find virtual dinosaurs as well as battle other gamers in real time

NBC Universal recently released the mobile game ‘Jurassic World: Alive‘ to help promote the movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Like the hit mobile game ‘Pokémon Go,' the real outside environment becomes a part of the immersive game as players search for dinosaurs. AMC Theatres and Walmart collaborated with NBC, integrating their physical sites into the game and driving players into their retail locations.

The game encourages visiting the AMC Theatres and Walmart locations, where players are able to unlock virtual rewards. Gamers can receive additional rewards by posting social media photos with the #JWUnleashed hashtag. Players can also receive a medical package by visiting select Walmart locations.

Driving players into the two retailers' locations encourages in-store purchases, while the social media aspect of the game aids in additional store promotion. The first Jurassic World movie and Pokémon Go were both huge hits, so this latest immersive and interactive launch is expected to be a success. The promotion will run from July 6th to July 31st.
