An experiential Boston store from Canadian fashion brand Roots includes a leather workshop where customers can have bags and jackets customized with exclusive looks

Style may be personal, but fashion can feel mechanical, given how so many fast fashion companies merely chase the same trends. Canadian fashion brand Roots is combating that by letting customers personalize new looks at the Leather Customization Workshop at its new Boston location. Shoppers will be able to customize bags and jackets with special patches and badges that will only be available at the Newbury street location, which opens on June 15. The customization bar will be just one part of the new store’s multi-sensory experience.

As a brand, Roots prides itself on “slow fashion,” developing quality products that customers can use long-term. By offering shoppers a way to make their clothes speak more directly to their aesthetic, Roots is creating a more personal relationship with the consumer and generating excitement for their latest product offerings. The brand will be opening two more stores in the Boston area by the end of June, followed by new locations in Chicago and Washington D.C.
