Customers can virtually fit furniture into any room during a house tour to help solidify their buying decision

Sotheby’s International Realty is using augmented reality and luxury furniture shop Viyet, a subsidiary of Sotheby’s auction house, to give people a better look at future homes. With the Curate by Sotheby’s International Realty app, updated for Android and now available for iOS, potential home buyers are able to virtually furnish and customize the homes they are touring. If they like what they see, the app also allows for in-app product overviews and purchase.

Being able to view furniture or compare layouts in a room is an easier and interactive alternative to staging, and with 54% of consumers interested in shopping for home goods with AR, it adds a new layer of convenience. Curate by Sotheby’s International Realty takes away part of the real estate headache by presenting actual options for what the house could look like it if buyers decided to call it home.
