AURA provides members with custom culinary offerings, cheap one-way ticket and a VR headset that puts them atop the cabin, making the tailored, luxury flying experience available to a wider audience

AURA, a private airline service, will launch next year in select small private airports within major U.S. cities. The service will offer one-way flights starting at $280 per ticket—much cheaper than the average private jet service. In the current travel sharing economy, premium product offerings strive to differentiate themselves from others in the increasingly crowded marketplace.

Aura’s purpose is to provide its consumers with “the luxury and convenience of a private jet with the affordability and reliability of an airline.” In other words, the luxury airline strives to utilize all of the best attributes of private jet services and commercial airlines to curate the most customized and convenient experience for its consumers.

Each aircraft will have a total of 29 seats between two class services, “FIRST” and “WAVE.” The former being the main cabin class service and the latter being the premium class service. The entire private jet experience, according to AURA, will be more immersive than other similar services. Amenities for passengers include a VR headset, which is connected to a 360-degree camera on the top of the aircraft, complimentary WiFi and an iPad Pro available at every seat.

The luxury travel industry increasingly is providing consumers with customized, hyper-curated experiences. Accordingly, airlines are improving and personalizing the various aspects of a passenger’s journey at a rapid pace. Many airlines are focusing on streamlining the pre-flight experience through virtual reality and troubleshooting apps. However, a few airline organizations, such as Qatar Airways and Lufthansa understand that luxury consumers also expect exceptional culinary in-flight experiences.

AURA plans to differentiate itself from competitors in the private jet service industry with its in-flight food offerings. FIRST passengers are provided with a complimentary global variety of tapas tastings while WAVE passengers can choose their dish of choice—a cut of beef, lamb, chicken, duck or fish—from the service’s “MEATLOCKER.” Both FIRST and WAVE passengers have access to a fresh sushi and sashimi menu.

While airlines are integrating more enticing and unique food options into their in-flight menus, AURA understands that, for a premium luxury passenger, customized culinary experiences are essential. This service serves to democratize an experience once reserved for the most elite, and joins the trend around services that cater to customers’ desire for tailored, luxury experiences.
