Apparel retailer Nyden will be partnering with popular Instagram influencers to crowdsource inspiration, driving brand engagement and expanding its reach

Social media creates value for businesses by allowing them to communicate directly with their customer base. Nyden, the latest brand from Swedish clothing manufacturer H&M, is take the social-brand link a step further by allowing Instagram followers to contribute to the retailer’s clothing designs.

Nyden teamed up with popular influencers such as Alyssa Coscarelli and Amanda Orelli to produce Instagram Story polls that ask followers their opinions on certain design features. The crowdsourced opinions will then be evaluated and incorporated into the final products.

Nyden’s co-founder Christopher Skogfeldt says, “We believe that inspiration and design is happening all the time, all around us. We want to empower people to show more of that and to create together by giving the power back through democratized fashion.”

This initiative allows for a closer link between the brand and the people it designs for, increasing brand loyalty and joining the trend around including customers in the creation process. The use of popular Instagram influencers also helps to expand the brand’s reach, promoting the line to people who may not have been aware of the retailer.
