The coworking leader is creating a new retail space where it will feature products from the companies that use its spaces, giving brands added exposure as well as offering exclusive, up-and-coming merchandise to its shoppers

Shared workspace company WeWork is opening a retail space called WeMRKT that will feature the products of the various startups and fledgling companies that rent space from the business.

Opening with 10 products chosen from a pitch competition back in April, the store will offer items like clothing, snacks and office necessities, with products changing out quarterly. Not only does this allow brands experience greater exposure but also gives them the opportunity to receive important feedback from consumers.

For the companies that use WeWork, or are looking to do so, the shop provides an additional opportunity to help get their products on the market, while letting WeWork stay on the cutting edge by selling products not yet in conventional commercial spaces, making the brand a unique resource for consumers. While not first to debut this type of store, as Macy's is offering an ever-changing shop with its acquisition of Story, WeMRKT may give more businesses added incentive to use WeWork's spaces while also providing shoppers with exclusive wares.
