Future Generali India Insurance partnered with the messaging app to reduce the hassle of filing claims and purchasing policies

Messaging platform WhatsApp and Future Generali India Insurance (FGII) are making it easier for users in India to make insurance claims and engage with their agency.

FGII is using the immense popularity of WhatsApp in the country to its advantage, distributing upwards of 5,200 policies since it began its trial run in mid-June of this year. After an accident, FGII policyholders can upload photos and videos of vehicle damage to the app, and receive confirmation messages after a policy has been purchased or renewed as well.

WhatsApp currently boasts more than 200 million users in India, and is quickly becoming a preferred method of communication among the country's residents. For insurance companies, providing clients with a direct and hassle-free way to communicate their problems has long been a priority. However, these solutions usually come through the agency's own website. FGII is breaking ground as the first agency in India to tap into the booming user base of another app.
