Alaska Airlines recently expanded its Wine Flies Free program, which allows members of its Mileage Plan program to check their carefully-packaged cases of wine without additional fees, at 29 different U.S. cities on the West Coast. Launched in 2007, the airline’s program enables its members to ship their wine purchases without having to pack the bottles in their suitcases or to worry about their items being damaged.

Now, with the program expanding to 18 more cities in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington, consumers conveniently can solve this common traveling pain point. Any member of the airline’s Mileage program can drop off their packaged case of wine with an Alaska Airlines customer service agent upon his or her arrival at the airport.

After the package is processed for free shipping, it is labeled “FRAGILE” to ensure that the wine arrives at the desired destination undamaged.The program is available on Horizon Air and SkyWest flights and Alaska Airlines flights at select airports.
