The program, in partnership with rental service Avis, will rent out vehicles for business, with insurance and maintenance included, to prospective ride-share drivers who don't own a valid vehicle

While becoming a ride-share driver has provided many people with a secure income, some have been unable to capitalize on the opportunity because they didn’t own a qualified vehicle. Avis is partnering with Lyft to offer these prospective drivers rental cars that can be used for both ride-sharing and personal use.

The program is called Express Drive and provides drivers with everything they would need if they were to buy a car, including insurance, maintenance and unlimited mileage. According to company president Joe Ferraro, “With a global fleet of approximately 600,000 vehicles, we are well positioned to take advantage of the continued growth in the ride-hailing space by providing on-demand access to a clean, safe and well-maintained vehicle.”

Drivers who rent regularly from the company can take advantage of additional discounts, so they can earn more through their rides. Express Drive is currently rolling out in a number of major cities.
