Shoppers Can Test Out Makeup In AR Using Facebook And L’Oréal’s Platform

The beauty brand is providing augmented reality filters from some of its most popular labels to enable virtual product testing via the social media platform

L’Oreal partnered with Facebook to provide customers with augmented reality filters that allow them to trial makeup before purchasing. These filters will be initially launched for the companies lipstick and eye shadow lines, but will eventually expand to other types of makeup, including foundation and more.

The brands under the L’Oréal umbrella that will be available for Facebook user testing include such popular names as NYX, Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent and Urban Decay.

Make up companies across the world have recently been implementing various augmented reality tools to help customers make better-informed decisions remotely and at their convenience, without the need to seek out a beauty consultant. And as platforms like Facebook prove to be an important part of the social commerce market, L’Oréal hopes that this integration will serve to not only better serve but also attract new customers.
