As busy consumers increase their health-conscious interests, there is a demand for healthier food at a convenience. Retailers are recognizing that the classic convenience store is no longer enough, and are moving to meet what were once alternative needs, but have now become everyday concerns for consumers.

This is why food retailers are integrating m-commerce strategies that allow customers to purchase groceries through mobile apps, in-store iPads and more. Here’s how some businesses are enabling the healthy yet efficient food experience:

Choice Market
Choice Market is an upstart convenience store located in Denver, Colorado, that offers fresh, local and on-demand goods that are high quality and easily accessible because the store is open 24 hours a day. Customers are able to order a selection of groceries, including an array of fruits and vegetables, online through their app, or through Postmates. Additionally, customers are able to customize their meal, grab a snack on the go, or pick up their various necessities from the physical location.

The Goods Mart
Convenience store The Goods Mart offers customers healthy versions of convenience store products at affordable prices. Traditional convenience store staples, such as energy drinks, jerky, and ramen, are made with healthier alternative ingredients, such as yerba mate, quinoa, paleo pork rinds, and chia seeds. Products are packaged in environmentally friendly materials serving coffee in paper instead of plastic cups. Customers can receive recommendations from staff who specialize in keto, gluten-free and vegan diets, or get more information from iPads placed at checkout.

Sweetgreen x Hank’s Liquor
Fast casual salad chain Sweetgreen helped a liquor store in a remote South L.A. area transform into a healthy food store. Hank’s Liquor was rebranded, remodeled and redesigned, swapping alcohol-related paraphernalia, such as a giant liquor sign for produce tables and hand-painted branding. Sweetgreen helped Hank’s with sourcing healthier products, pricing and merchandising to help them give shoppers better access to affordable healthy food.

Green Zebra Grocery
Green Zebra Grocery is a locally owned and operated healthy and convenient corner grocer located in Portland, Oregon. Offerings include made-from-scratch, grab-and-go meals, a full-service coffee bar, beer and wine, carefully sourced groceries and everyday items. Customers can order items online, which can be delivered to their home or picked up in-store.

In today’s ever changing market, customers are expecting more healthy and alternative options everywhere they go, from convenience marts to grocery stores.
