Mercedes-Benz Compliments Passersby With Light-Based Messages To Promote Digital Headlights
The headlight feature is called Digital Light and comprises over two million micro-reflectors, which can be used to project lanes, relevant traffic info and improve road safety
Automotive retailer Mercedes-Benz recently released innovative headlight technology that can perform surprising functions. The system is called Digital Light and can be used to project messages out on the road ahead.
In its latest promotion of the feature, the automaker used the headlights to send messages out to passersby on the street, complimenting them on their style and encouraging them to keep up their jog. The LED fixtures feature over one million micro-reflectors which allow for the precision needed to create patterns and letters.
While the ability to create words is a fun capability, Mercedes also wants customers to know how the system works to improve safety: “With a resolution of over one million pixels per headlamp, Digital Light not only creates ideal light conditions for every driving situation; it also extends the visual support from our driving assistance systems,” says Ola Källenius of Daimler AG.
