Insta Novels is the institution's reimagining of Instagram Stories to provide a new platform for iconic reading like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, creating a digital bookshelf for today's readers

The New York Public Library is bringing some of the world’s best-known titles to social media in a partnership with Instagram called called Insta Novels. Aiming to make great stories appeal more widely and to younger demographics, the initiative converts the stories into an engaging, visually-driven format accessible through the institution’s account with the social platform. 

The program is currently running part one and two of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which span the entire novel and can be reached through the library’s Instagram account on its Stories page. More stories will be added soon and the highlights will be compiled into a virtual library of their own. Upcoming titles for the app include The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
