Volkswagen Financial Services U.K.  launched specifically-timed auctions every Thursday to offer auto dealers the chance to buy cars at discounted prices from its unsold stock

Volskwagen Financial Services created auctions to let dealers buy cars at discounted prices, while the brand gets rid of unsold stock. In the U.K.. The “Last Chance to Buy” online auction will take place between 9am and 3pm every Thursday.

The offer includes cars from Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche and Volkswagen Commercial vehicles. All of the vehicles were not sold through traditional online means, and have a considerable discount as the starting price. While the stock is usually three years old, the German automaker is including detailed reports regarding the cars’ conditions—including known faults—and maintains that they are well taken care of.

Increasingly, auto brands have been exploring alternative paths to selling their cars or services, including subscription services, car-sharing and partnerships with auto dealers. These online auctions hope to provide another route, making vehicles available at lower costs to a wider audience of leasers and dealers while letting Volkswagon turn a profit from the old stock.
