Vending Machine Rewards Customers With Health Drink If They Learn Japanese

A Japanese health drink brand is spreading its heritage to promote its product, offering a free drink to its customers for learning a bit of its language

Japanese health drink retailer Yakult has come up with an interactive way for its audience to get to know the brand: installing a vending machine capable of teaching quick Japanese phrases in exchange for a free drink. Through a touch screen and voice commands, the immersive machine spreads a little of the brand’s national heritage.

The device was developed by product development agency Aeguana. “We want to offer our Yakult drinkers a fun experience whenever we have the chance to interact with them. We are constantly looking for new ways to deliver our brand messages in an authentic and entertaining way,” said Emma Dita, PR manager at Yakult.

The vending machine will be traveling around the U.K and Ireland and attending a few events like the Festival of Curiosity taking in Dublin and Hull’s British Science Festival scheduled for September.
