In Brief

The service is a part of a new initiative that puts the rental process entirely online, helping streamline bill payment, property exchanges and more

The online real estate database company Zillow recently expanded with a new service that allows users to pay their rent through the website. This feature is a part of the Zillow Rental Manager service, a program that gives landlords access to accept rental applications and payments.

Users of the service pay a $29 application fee, which goes to credit and background checks, and have the option to set up automatic payments throughout their rental period. Landlords using the service do not pay a fee.

Zillow Rental Manager is available nationwide. The purpose of the service is to make the renting process entirely digital. While this could prove difficult for landlords who lack technological knowledge, Zillow has designed its services to ease the learning curve.

Aside from the Zillow Rental Manager, the company also initiated Zillow Instant Offers, an online service that connects sellers with investors. With the help of local brokerages and agents, the program grants homeowners the ability to sell their homes directly through the website. Unlike the Zillow Rental Manager, Zillow Instant Offers is only available in select cities.
