Arlo Hotels Launches Sustainability Program Designed To Appeal To The Eco-Conscious Traveler
Arlo Cares blends boutique hospitality with community-focused events and other eco-conscious initiatives
Boutique chain Arlo Hotels has launched a new sustainability program for 2018. The mission of the Arlo Cares initiative is to create and promote sustainable changes in the travel industry, giving eco-conscious travelers a place to lay their head worry-free.
Arlo Cares will also promote its ‘earth-ethical’ mindset through community outreach events. Included are educational speakers, film screenings, and charitable celebrations.
Programming thus far includes an ocean cleanup at Rockaway Beach, an eco-friendly music event call Rock-a-Fest, and regular movie nights to showcase films about issues in sustainability. The hotel chain will also host a monthly discussion series bringing industry leaders to speak to both guests and locals about green issues.
Another component of Arlo Cares is ending excessive plastic use. Arlo Hotels is one of the first hospitality companies in New York to phase out single-use plastics, which is tracked on a real-time ticker on the company’s website. To date, the hotel chain has eliminated more than 1.1 million pieces of plastic.
