In promotion of electric vehicles in general as well as its recently launched e-tron, the automaker offered San Francisco drivers a fully functional service station, including a concierge, demonstrations and a cafe

Coinciding with the world debut of the e-tron, Audi‘s first fully-electric production vehicle, the automaker constructed a popup electrified service station to promote EV technology. ‘Charging Station Unleashed‘ was located in San Francisco for a four-day run and featured the public debut of the e-tron five-passenger SUV as well as the PB 18 concept car and a Formula E racecar.

The design of the modern and minimalist service station mimicked a traditional petrol station. The featured vehicles and charging stations sat underneath a branded canopy while the service building housed a concierge station, EV technology demonstration exhibits and a cafe.

Audi also provided complimentary charging for owners of any make or model of electric vehicle. The chargers were supplied by Electrify America, the company investing $2 billion towards constructing an ultra-fast DC charging network across the U.S.

Loren Angelo, vice president of Marketing for Audi of America, explained the concept behind the popup, stating, “The heart of the experience is a modern take on what a charging station could look like in the near future, a place where drivers of electric vehicles can refuel themselves while their vehicle recharges,” implying that the brand is experimenting with creative ideas that will help it remain a major player in an EV-dominated future.
