The grocer and Bupa collaborated to integrate health-promoting services like expert consultations and education into consumers' shopping routine, helping spread awareness of the programs as well as beta testing them for Bupa's clinics

International healthcare company Bupa and British supermarket chain Waitrose came together to offer in-store health services and activities for grocery store customers. The partnership occurred from June to September 1 of this year in 17 Waitrose locations and provided Waitrose customers with an array of Bupa-sponsored services that aimed to offer support for health needs on-demand, at their convenience.

Services ranged from health stations that allowed customers to calculate their BMI to health assessments with a Bupa adviser. Customers had the opportunity to learn from Bupa experts who spoke about their specialties in a series of evening talks. This partnership also served as beta testing for Bupa to implement new health assessments in its clinics.

“Many shoppers have the best intentions to be healthier, but busy lives get in the way,” says Moira Howie, Nutrition & Health Manager, Waitrose. “We know that helpful advice can get people started and have a positive effect on their long-term health.” Accordingly, meeting shoppers in-store at their convenience was part of an effort for both companies to promote healthier lifestyle changes and long-term wellness thinking.
