In Brief

Burger King is helping preserve one of the scandinavian nation's beloved summer pastimes, offering a whopper each day of the ban for those enrolled in its program

After one of Sweden’s harshest summers resulted in a barbecue ban across the country, fast-food chain Burger King took it upon itself to make sure that citizens didn’t go without flame-broiled burgers from June to August. The retailer is guaranteeing Sweden burgers with its initiative “Grillsurance.”

The program ensures that those enrolled can receive a free Whopper meal every day during the barbecue ban. To sign up for Grillsurance for 2019, burger lovers need only buy a Whopper meal and register online with the code provided on the card included with purchase. All profits from Grillsurance purchases will be doubled by Burger King and donated to the Swedish Volunteer Fire Brigade.

With Grillsurance, Burger King is attempting to preserve one of the Scandanvian nation’s favorite summer traditions. Grillsurance is now available in all 135 Burger King locations across Sweden until September 11.
