Retailers are always looking into ways in which technology can help their employees communicate better with each other and, in turn, offer better customer service. The Container Store spent years testing different workforce management programs and has crystallized its findings with the Theatro Communicator wearable device.

The voice-activated device keeps employees connected, including applications that enable communication between wearers across the enterprise SKU look-up, employee location tracking, store analytics and more. The Container store tested the devices in stores for two years and noticed a significant improvement in its Custom Closets section, which functions by appointment only—due to lack of communication, meetings were being missed. The communicator devices ensured that employees were always aware of appointments and that customers were given proper service.

Expanding upon this success, the retailer recently opened a store in Dallas fully equipped with the wearable technology and plans on implementing the changes nationwide.
