In a bid to compete with larger beauty retailers, Ipsy is moving beyond offering just sample sizes and is providing members with curated full-size items each month

The popular beauty brand subscription box Ipsy is expanding beyond its traditional business model, now offering subscribers more than just typical sample sizes. The beauty box is debuting its Glam Bag Plus, a $25/month box that will include five full-sized products.

By upgrading its sizes, Ipsy hopes to place its brand in competition with established beauty retailers like Ulta and Sephora, as well as edge out its long-time subscription box rival, Birchbox. Along with the monthly product samples, Ipsy is creating video content to accompany the theme of the bag's contents to provide recipients with additional information regarding the current curation.

Ipsy has always aimed to provide its subscribers with products worth more than the $9.99/month that they pay, delivering a quality selection of samples tailored to personal beauty profiles and contained in a stylish bag. The brand hopes that this upgraded plan will offer greater incentive for new members to join, helping grow its three-million-member subscriber base.
