Macy's is debuting an AR app to let shoppers superimpose products used in the magazine's cover onto their own photos and then seamlessly shop the makeup they like

Cosmopolitan Magazine and Macy’s department store are partnering to allow shoppers to test beauty products with a selfie. The two teamed up to create a selfie app called YouCam, which allows Cosmo readers to scan the cover of an issue of the magazine and have the products featured superimposed onto their own picture.

If shoppers like the way their modified selfie looks, they can then purchase the products online. The augmented reality covers will be premiering with the October issue of Cosmo and continue every month with new shoppable looks.

In addition, Macy’s is rolling out similar technology in brick-and-mortar locations around the United States, joining the trend of enabling personalized content that guides shoppers down the path to purchase. Overall, the partnership is intended to help both companies to increase their online presence and tap into their digitally-inclined target market.
