The option of using the digital currency to buy vehicles from a Texas Rolls dealer is driven by desire for ease and simplicity from customers making luxury purchases

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Houston is the brand's first dealer in the U.S. to accept bitcoin as payment for a car: Now worldwide customers of the dealer can order or purchase a Rolls-Royce with the cryptocurrency.

The Texas dealer is owned by hospitality magnate Tilman Fertitta, who established the program as a way of offering a unique convenience element to the luxury car-buying experience. Fertitta says of the initiative, “Being a premier luxury car dealer, I always want to offer my customers the very best buying experience and this partnership will allow anyone around the world to purchase our vehicles faster and easier.”

Transactions are facilitated though BitPay, the world’s largest processor of bitcoin and blockchain payments. Sonny Singh, Chief Commercial Officer of BitPay, agrees with Fertitta that simplicity is driving the desire for some people to pay with digital currency: “We’ve noticed people prefer to make larger purchases with bitcoin since it is a simple way to make payments. This partnership is timely with the increasing popularity ultra-luxury vehicles.”
