Amazon’s Streaming Platform Lets Thursday Night Football Fans Shop Ads

Game-streaming service Twitch allows viewers to buy official merchandise while watching live-streams of the game, capitalizing on the wide captive audience of football season

There are few markets as widespread as football, with the Super Bowl receiving millions of views and earning its advertisers significant returns on their investment. E-tailer giant Amazon and its game-streaming platform Twitch are currently advertising products on live streams of the Thursday night games to garner that revenue more directly.

Viewers watching the kickoff game on September 27 on the Twitch platform or Amazon Fire TV had the ability to buy official NFL merchandise directly from their screen on Amazon. They will continue to have this ability throughout the ten other games in Fox’s Thursday Night Football season. There is also a Spanish language broadcast available, to widen the audience even further.

This viewing platform also lets people chat about the game in real time, and even use special football emojis to create an exclusive feel. Soon, the Twitch version will also give viewers the availability to access the teams’ stats in order to better keep track of how the season is going.
