EasyJet Lets Travelers Pick Out Their Vacation From Instagram Photos
The airline's latest visual search tool in its mobile app lets consumers select destinations and flights from photos on Instagram
Instagram is teaming up with easyJet airlines to help people find flights to their picture-perfect destination. The two designed a Look&Book feature that uses Instagram’s geotag technology to track locations and possible flight routes.
By using Instagram screenshots of the desired destination, the Look&Book search engine will generate flight options. The feature is currently available on Apple devices and while it is only operating through Instagram at the moment, it hopes to expand to other image-driven platforms like Snapchat in the future.
Look&Book is designed to take advantage of the marketability of social media photos and posts, parlaying their popularity into social commerce. Its developers also hope that the platform will streamline travel planning for consumers, while driving sales for easyJet. The feature is available in easyJet’s mobile app.
