Omni is promoting active storage, letting customers charge each other for use of their stowed-away goods, incentivizing business while also encouraging the repurposing of unused items

Self-storage startup Omni is helping its customers use their stored items to make some extra money. The company allows people to store their random and miscellaneous goods for a flat monthly rate, as well as rent those same goods out to fellow customers of the service.

Omni aims to provide a unique service for its customers, offering more than just a place to keep their things out of sight and out of mind. Customers will be paid a flat rate when their belongings are being rented, but rather than only shelling out payment to these customers in traditional forms, Omni offers a cryptocurrency option called XRP as well.

The startup hopes to shake up the self-storage industry with its rental offer as well as a courier service to schedule pick-up and drop-off through its app. Active self-storage not only incentivizes customers to use Omni’s services, but also promotes reusing and repurposing goods rather than throwing them away, helping to curb landfill waste.
