Starbucks Celebrates Its Pumpkin Spice Latte With A Secret Fan Group

The Leaf Rakers Society is Facebook group aiming to sustain the seasonal drink's popularity by fostering community around celebrating autumn

When fall arrives, excitement about particular seasonal items commences, not the least of which is the return of Starbucks‘ famed pumpkin spice latte. In a bid to keep the drink as popular as it has been in previous years, Starbucks is offering a new way for its customers to experience the product with its “Leaf Rakers Society.”

The community manifests as a Facebook group that caters to aficionados of the spiced beverage. While the group can be viewed by all, only full-fledged members of the group can comment.

Kyndra Russel, Starbucks’ VP of loyalty and partnership explains the purpose behind the group’s creation: “The social media team really leaned into the idea of ‘let’s celebrate our brand enthusiasts here, let’s give them a safe place.’ So they created, on Facebook, a little bit of a secret society.”

Ultimately, Starbucks hopes simply to offer a fun way for lovers of its seasonal drink to socialize and share their enjoyment of the season, describing the secret group as a “forum where we constructively work together with Mother Nature to help Autumn arrive earlier in the calendar year. ”
