In an industry first, auto brand Buick is incorporating Yelp into its in-car infotainment system, allowing customers to book a table at thousands of restaurants while they drive

As technology evolves, cars are able to integrate more functions for drivers to take advantage of on the road. Case in point, Buick is integrating a capability with online review and service search site Yelp so that drivers can set up or manage their reservations on the go.

The Buick Marketplace is a service available to drivers of the brand’s vehicles, letting them download any number of useful apps for their commute. One of the newest additions to the marketplace is Yelp, which now also lets patrons make reservations through its service.

The integration is ultimately about convenience, pushing to make Buick the brand that lets drivers do more from the comfort from their car. “Whether drivers want to make a dinner reservation on the go or get recommendations for restaurants in a new city, the newly added Yelp Reservations brings simple convenience to the car,” Sam Russell, director of Buick marketing, tells VentureBeat. “Making new features like this available for vehicles already on the road enhances our vehicles with unexpected new benefits for our customers.”
