In a nod to consumers' rising expectations for on-demand delivery that serves varied need states, the chain's Hotspots program makes it easier for customers to order pizza from places like parks or concerts

When hunger hits, consumers aren't always at a residential address that delivery drivers can easily find. Amid the Uber economy that's fostered the growth of on-demand retail, Domino's wants to make it more convenient for these kinds of customers to order a pizza and receive it wherever they are with its Hotspots program.

The service allows customers to order pizza to the beach, a park, a concert or other kinds of public spaces. The customer inputs special identifying information on the Dominos app, like location or shirt color, so the delivery driver is able to locate them.

Anywhere, anytime delivery services like these are in synch with what shoppers currently want: According to PSFK's exclusive Last-Mile Delivery Debrief, “Although price has long been the primary determinant for a shopper's purchase decision, new criteria like immediacy, proximity and seamlessness have emerged with the rise of disruptors like Amazon and GrubHub.”

Russell Weiner, president of Domino's, further explains, “We know delivery is all about convenience, and Domino's Hotspots are an innovation that is all about flexible delivery options for customers.” Domino's Hotspots orders can only be placed online and must be paid for in advance.
