Venmo is making it easier for rideshare passengers to purchase snacks and amenities from Cargo's convenience boxes, targeting millennial and Gen-Z demographics by enabling payment through its peer-to-peer app

Cargo, the commerce service that operates out of rideshare vehicles, is partnering with Venmo to let passengers complete transactions for any convenience items they want through the mobile payment service. The collaboration is currently being tested in major metropolitan Cargo markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas.

Riders can pay for items they purchase from the Cargo box by entering the vehicle's Cargo code on the brand's site, select to pay with Venmo and collect their goods after the ride is complete. Venmo customers can also post pictures of the purchased goods in their payment feed, functioning as some bonus advertising for Cargo and the products it carries like Smartwater and RXBAR.

Cargo is designed to help rideshare drivers boost their popularity and sales, offering in-ride convenience to their customers. Furthermore, the partnership aims to capitalize on the popularity of ride-hailing and peer-to-peer mobile payments with the millennial and Gen Z demographics.
