Year after year, the holiday season consistently puts retailers to the test, finding new ways to provide a customized and efficient consumer experience. Tackling the large crowds, and leading customers to their desired products and services can be challenging. Walmart has decided to embrace these challenges and use its resources to avoid the holiday season complications, instead enhancing the in-store and online consumer experience with new technologies.

This holiday season, Walmart will implement a new strategy, coined Check Out With Me, which involves the retailer’s employees providing assistance to customers in-store. Associates will be available in set departments that generate the most traffic to answer questions, locate merchandise and check the customers out with mobile registers, to avoid long check-out lines.

Walmart’s app is also getting an update with a new feature that includes store maps specifically created for each individual store. These maps are available electronically, and will assist customers with navigating the space and finding merchandise, to promote a seamless shopping experience.

Even more, Walmart has re-designed its website with a modern look and feel, which will assist customers in discovering the products and gifts that are best for their needs. Walmart.com will feature an online catalogue that will showcase new product assortments, in-store and online deals, gift guides and featured product collaborations. In addition to providing shopping assistance, Walmart will be expanding its assortment with more than 2,000 new brands, and offering free two-day shipping to all customers. These brands will be introduced through demos and store events in select locations.

By improving the shopping experience, expanding assortment and offering two-day shipping, Walmart plans to tackle this season’s rush by giving its customers new technology advantages that help them save time when shopping both on or offline.
